Omnexa to Provide Vue Eco Village Development with Bushfire Protection Technology
Omnexa, through its affiliated entity, Energy Consulting Engineers, is pleased to announce that it has signed a research partnership with Green Vision Developments to provide the Vue Eco Village in Goonellabah, NSW with a world-first bushfire protected, microgrid community system.
With stage 1 of the project already underway, 51 apartments are set to be completed by the end of 2021 with energy islanding technology so that in the event of a fire, storm, or blackout residents can stay safe and continue to enjoy uninterrupted energy usage.
These energy independent homes can resist bushfire exposure for up to 8 hours and are built EV ready with embedded Virtual Power Plant technology to help distribute secure, clean, and safe energy within the community.
Principal Engineer and CEO of Omnexa, Mr Ahmed El Safty says, “Our alliance with Green Vision Developments is very exciting, we’re like-minded in our values and our goals, we both just want to give residents energy independent, bushfire security at an affordable price point,” Mr El Safty continued.
“It became clear that the construction industry was taking a reactive as opposed to a proactive approach to bushfire management; our team of post-doctorate and RPEQ engineers are working to develop fully automated protective technology that would prevent a bushfire from ever reaching the premises,” Mr El Safty continued.
“Our proposed thermophilic wall utilises latent heat to absorb the thermal energy of the oncoming fire front before it reaches the residential properties,” Mr El Safty concluded.
Managing director of Green Vision Developments, Mr Scott Wharton says, “Our Vue Eco Village development will set a benchmark for affordable, sustainable living in New South Wales and give residents peace of mind that they are living more sustainably every day.”
“As a team, we have now created a model for regional Australia: a prefabricated housing construction system that is bushfire protected, energy-independent and sustainable,” Mr Wharton concluded.
Vue’s project will be the first-ever truly fire-resistant community-dwelling to be built internationally; the embedded fire protection system dispensers can be installed in both single and multi-containment configurations to maximise unobtrusive area coverage.
